 I was born and raised in Texas. My family and I moved to Nashville in 1991 and have been here ever since. I went to college at the University of Evansville and received a bachelor's degree in Music Management. Right out of college, I began serving as the "Creative Arts Minister" at New Hope Community Church in Brentwood, TN. After two and a half years at New Hope, God told me that, "The time of singing had come!" I left New Hope and stepped out to answer God's call to share my faith through music and ministry. For the gifts and call of God are irrevocable. - Romans 11:29 Musical Background: As a child, Jerry sang on 2 Dove nominated children's albums with Jodi Benson, Disney's Little Mermaid and on a children's album for Kid Rhino/ WarnerBrothers. Then when he was 13 years old, he won a solo spot with the San Antonio Symphony. In college, Jerry majored in classical voice. He was involved in jazz choir, men's choir and concert choir. In his sophomore year he had the opportunity to study overseas where he was awarded the Dean's Award for outstanding leadership. That was also the year that Jerry picked up a guitar and a whole new world of music opened up for him. He filled a 3-ring binder with praise and worship songs and began leading the worship team on campus. For the past two summers Jerry served as Music Leader for Group Work Camps, a youth missions program sponsored by Group Publishing. Out of all the music leaders involved, Jerry was ranked #1. Jerry Wise comes from a family of musicians and writers. He resigned from his ministry position, in order to dedicate himself fully to his song writing and worship leading. Because he was able to dedicate his time fully to music, he has just released his first album, "Grain of Sand". As a former worship arts minister, he spent years motivating adolescents and their families to seek God in their daily living. He also discovered that music is a tremendous avenue for Christians to share their faith, express their love for God, inspire and motivate each other to live Godly lives and to reach others with the love of Jesus. |
